After a Dental Cleaning

Maintaining a good oral hygiene is a foundation to prevent any dental disease. Parental supervision plays a vital role in this regards and should always be taken care of.

After fluoride

Try not to eat or drink for at least 30 minutes. Can have some water but it cannot be warm or hot, as it can melt the fluoride. At our clinic, we offer funny or unique fluoride flavors, it may last for few hours but it is important to help teeth stay strong and healthy.

After Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF)

Fluoride varnish is usually placed after SDF application so try not to let your child eat or drink for 30 minutes. It is important to remember the root cause of cavity and to work on great oral hygiene practices at home by brushing and flossing. Discoloration on soft tissues (tongue, gums, lips) are temporary and should resolve in a few days to weeks.

After Sealants

No other precautions are necessary but avoid any sticky or chewy foods for 24 hours.

After Fillings/Crowns

Avoid any sticky or chewy foods for 24 hours.  It can be normal to feel some discomfort afterwards, but it’s important to try to see if your child is progressively improving.

After Tooth Extractions

Avoid any sticky or chewy foods for 24 hours. Avoid hot, spicy, or crunchy foods. A soft diet is recommended. In this process local anesthesia was applied, so after sometime your child can feel strange, let your child know regarding it and distract them.
